The buck stops.... but where?

The two sayings make sense to me now. Be it in business or employment, their application is clear.

Your team is not performing up to standard. As their manager, are they well trained? Do you motivate team members? Have you articulated the goals of the team clearly? The buck stops with you.

As the business owner, do you take time to sell the vision of the company to your employees as often as possible? Is your company mission as clear as day to all staff? What does it mean to work for your company? What do you believe in and do your staff know this?

It is easy to just pass the buck and when things go South, you can get a scapegoat to blame. This is a something of a normal occurrence these days.

You are in charge of something: a task, a department, a company... It is your responsibility.

You have the buck, so deal.

I have never played poker, the card game, but my research made get a few basics..

At any one time, at a poker table, there is a person who will be 'dealing' i.e. distributing cards to the rest of the players and manages the action on the poker table. This responsibility is moved round the table among the poker players as the game goes on.

A marker called a buck is given to the person 'dealing' who stays with it until it is turn for another player to deal i.e. the buck stops with him. If for any reason, the player whose turn it is to deal, doesn't want to, they can 'pass the buck' to the next person.
