Trust yourself to put your trust in others
The huge contracts that hurt me financially were purely down to very poor decision-making on my part. I made all the decisions from the biggest to the minute details in the projects. Then I made losses and they were not small ones. Looking back now, I can see the mistakes very clearly; if I had help back then, a second pair of eyes, things would be different.
It doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with you as a person. It doesn’t mean that you are a failure. It just means that a human being, you have limitations based on finite resources at your disposal. We counter this by ensuring we have a team that shares out the roles and responsibilities. As the leader, your core role will then be to continuously sell the vision to the team members and help them bring it to life. A huge part of this is to trust them to do the right thing for the success of the team.
Your ability to make the right decisions wears off as the day progresses; limit your decisions; delegate.

I was looking back at the big mistakes I have made in business and I realized that a huge number of them came from me making decisions on things completely on my own. I was able to bag big clients and then proceeded to do everything on my own: sourcing capital, negotiating with suppliers, meeting with the clients and job execution.
