Gratitude

The catastrophic skiing accident in December 2013 forever changed his life and that of his family. In one swift moment everything was turned upside down. There are scanty details about his condition but from the accounts given by his family, the champion we knew isn’t going to be seen in public any time soon.

That we may never know what else Michael Schumacher would bring into this world is unfortunate. What he did during the time he was healthy and fit is more important to the world. He showed us what it takes to be the a champion, putting in the work daily even when you are regarded as the best and inspiring your whole team to rise above the odds and start winning.

The life we have is not guaranteed; anything can happen and it can all be taken away from us. The fact that we have health, fitness and time on our side is a priviledge that we need to be grateful for every day. The best way to show thanks is to use our gifts, talents and skills to make a difference, however small, to the world.

Show some gratitude. Be the best you can be with the time, resources, skills and gifts you have.

I was watching the Michael Schumacher bio-documentary a day ago and it was amazing seeing people talk about this private F1 legend. His gift and skill showed on the racetrack as he made history each time he revved his engine. There are also times when he was frustrated like the first four years at Ferrari when he didn’t win the championship. Those were the years when his commitment and consistency were severely tested. The biopic also gave a glimpse of his private life showing a fun-loving man who was committed to his family.
