Welcome 2022!
“Were you to live three thousand years, or even a countless multiple of that, keep in mind that no one ever loses a life other than the one they are living, and no one ever lives a life other than the one they are losing. The longest and the shortest life, then, amount to the same, for the present moment lasts the same for all and is all anyone possesses. No one can lose either the past or the future, for how can someone be deprived of what’s not theirs?” —MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 2.14
At the end of the day, we have only the present in our possession. This is manifested even strongly now as we still deal with the Pandemic. Today is not the same as yesterday and may not be the same as tomorrow. You can open your business today and then they announce a lockdown. You are feeling super today then tomorrow starts with a fever. We will also forever remember that so many of us have lost loved ones and colleagues during this time.
I am positive that the world will defeat this and rise above it. However, we should never forget that the pandemic laid bare how little control we actually have of external things. At the same time it revealed just how strong we are on the inside; despite all the loss we have soldiered on. We have come to appreciate the small things and what we have presently; what we have today and now.
Personally, I am grateful that I am alive in this age where I get to write my thoughts and post them to the world. Some people in a different part of the globe that I have never been and who do not know me will read this today, or tomorrow, someday. It is a blessing.
I do have my plans and strategies for the year written, down to the daily tasks I hope to undertake. Everyday, I will be grateful for life and the ability to execute them. Welcome 2022!

Another year is here with us. I don't know about the rest of you but 2021 went past very fast for me. There will be a lot of talk about New Year Resolutions, strategies and plans; all of which is fine. I want to see today and the rest of the year through an additional lens.
I am currently reading the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday which contains 366 daily meditations on stoic philosophies. I think that the author had planned that we read one a day but I read 3, sometimes 4 or 5 of them a day, but let's keep that as a secret here. On New Years Day, I read only one and it was derived from a excerpt from the book Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
