You are your work. Here's why I think so.
The kind of environment you work in will affect how you behave especially since you will be there everyday. If there are visible cues that trigger some behaviour, it will seep into you at some point. if you work in a fast food joint, you are more likely to eat junk food on a daily basis. The person who works in a green food market will most likely have green leafy vegetables and fruit in their meals. If you work in a gym, you will slowly start working out yourself.
8 hours a day, you are 'stuck' with the same crew of people for years or months. There will be a some behaviours that you will pick up in the course of your interaction with them. This can go either way. There are people who work together and go on to succeed in their respective careers while the opposite is also true for other groups of people. Your become the average of the people you spend the most time with.
Aside from all that, the end product of you work is a reflection of you. The effort your put in, the level of skill you possess and the values that drive you are all laid bare in your output. Your results will clearly show you where you are lacking in skill, the number of extra hours you will need to invest and if it is clear your attitude needs to change.
Your work is a part of you; you have to become a person who is capable of doing the job for you to actually do it, How the job is done will instill habits into your routine that will seep into all aspects of your life. The end results of your work shows what you stand for as a person. That's my opinion.

Who you are is determined by your habits, your environment and the people you mostly interact with. You change any of these , you significantly change who you are as a person. We spend upwards of 40 hours a week at work. For most people, that's more than any other activity including spending time with family. How does your profession affect all the three factors? Let's take a look.
For you to be able to perform the job you currently do, there are some routine tasks that you have to undertake on a daily basis. Routine brings with it habits that now form to accommodate your job. They will decide how early you wake up, what time you have your meals, how long you work, your posture at work, how late you go home.. I could go on. Repetition is scientifically proven to affect how your brain functions, creating new neural paths with physical enlargement of certain regions to aid in the execution of the activity you engage in.
